Dr Irena Peršić Živadinov
Director, Kvarner Region Tourist Board, Croatia
Dr Irena Peršić Živadinov, Director of Kvarner Region Tourist Board, became head of the region’s tourist board in 2011. Both her educational background and work experience were particularly varied and extensive before she took over her current position.
She was born in Croatia, then educated in Croatia, Italy and the USA. After attending an Italian high school, she graduated from high school in the USA, where she afterwards studied Business Management. She continued her education at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Padua (Italy), where she studied economics.
After returning to Croatia, she gained a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, where her thesis was on the subject Economic Effects of the Construction of Ecological Properties in Tourism. She then went on to obtain her doctorate. Her doctoral dissertation was on Sustainable Energy Management in the Hotel Life Cycle.
During her studies, she undertook various jobs in tourism, and after graduating started working at the Milenij Hotels group, where from the beginning she took an active part in the construction and, later on, operation of the hotels. After working at the Milenij Hotels group, she became financial director at SKG d.o.o., after which she was employed in a regional office for strategic infrastructure and development, where she worked on EU projects.
Irena Peršić Živadinov continues to apply the skills that she has acquired through her work experience on a daily basis in her current position as Director of Kvarner Region Tourist Board, the main task of which is the management of this tourist destination and its promotion on the international market.
She is fluent in Italian and English.
